It would appear that even though I uninstalled and re-installed some bits were still lurking about, because when I tried to download by visiting Google Maps download, my location map appeared but there were no command options and did not open any typed in addresses, so I installed a free trial version of Malware Bytes this cleared PUPs which done the trick, after rebooting and reinstalling every thing is working perfectly now , hope this helps.
