Ok, I'll add these two the first wasn't exactly a request as much as a subtle complaint, but I'll make it a request now : 1. Figure out why forcing the UAC prompt causes it to launch soooo much slower, and if possible, fix it, and. Well, for some reason I decided to test the latest version again, and now there is no delay before getting the UAC prompt, so I'm now using the latest 1. Muad'Dib, are you still around? Here is my current list of issues that would make this tool perfect Allow an option to save or not the last workstation connected to when disconnecting.
I update workstations remotely a lot, and will reconnect to the same one 3 or 4 times when rebooting, so it is very convenient - for me- to have it remember the last one connected to.
This would eliminate the need for two different icons and the 'wrapper' script - one for sorting on the 'Recent Hosts' field and one for sorting on the 'Description' field - that I have to run now.
Remember the last window position - or, be able to specify a specific position relative to the top right corner. Ability to configure where the. I would love to be able to store these in a shared network drive, so that when I use one of my other accounts from a different computer, I am using the same list of hosts Thats it - well, that and testing with Windows 10 haven't gotten one added to our domain yet Has anyone else tested with Windows 10?
Oh, and one more Im so sorry guys! The thread notifications here don't appear to work very well. I haven't updated the program in awhile because its just worked. In addition, our organization purchased Bomgar for remote support capabilities so this tool isn't used by our IT department as much as it used to. I am planning on doing another update here soon. I will take into consideration some of the suggestions here and do a release ASAP. Maybe by late next week? I am not updating for Windows 10 just yet because I am not keen on joining a Windows 10 device to a domain due to privacy and security concerns.
A lot is unknown about all Windows is doing in the background on 10 and that's scary. In addition, I would like to eventually move to a more open source model where the source code is available for all to play with if they wanted too.
That's still a bit off though.. ITN1nja n00b. Joined Feb 3, Messages 6. The only feature we have missed is the ability to search through the client list. We support around PCs with this. ITN1nja said:. What if I solved this with some sort of autocomplete? Or would you rather have an actual find or search area to find a device in the list? I'm sure if we could compare source, his would be infinitely better EDIT: Updated to resolve some glitches, now is a bit only app.
Last edited: May 27, I liked the interface, but the TightVNC viewer failed to load properly. But the search and sorting features are good additions to Muad'Dib's creation. It installs them silently and without user interaction. CyberCitizen n00b. Joined Aug 5, Messages 2. There are only 2x that I can think of, both are not free.
Although I have had experience with both, I found IntelliAdmin the best. Muad'Dib Weaksauce. Joined Nov 9, Messages Hello, Sorry to bring back this old thread from the dead.. I searched and i searched for the GenControl source code to see if i could update it Instead i decided to write my own program that does exactly what GenControl does Actually tested on Windows 7 and Server It hasnt been ran through the motions too much yet, but please feel free to check it out and provide me feedback on it.
PushVNC7 works but does leave files on the pc that your connecting to doesn't clean nicely. Hi Muad'Dib, Thank you for your program, it looks really nice. Last edited: Jan 18, Thank you for that report. The Application has come along way since i have posted. Try the latest version and report back your findings. Joined Jan 23, Messages I'm having issues getting this to run on 64 bit machines.
Is that normal? I've connected successfully to our XP 32 bit machines but we have one XP 64 and all our Windows 7 machines are 64 bit. I made a change to my compiler that had a negative impact on the application.
I should have tested it better before releasing it that way. Anyway, the issue with x64 devices should be fixed now. Please use the latest version 1.
I wasn't clear in the description of the problem I was having. I've tried running through some default passwords and nothing works. When I try to connect to Windows 7 32 bit machines I get an exception error like the one posted earlier in this thread. If I hit Continue or Quit on the exception error the program just hangs. The only successful connections I can make are to Windows XP 32 bit machines. With the new version you uploaded yesterday I'm getting the same errors.
Thanks for your help. Last edited: Jan 24, You shouldnt be getting a pasword prompt any longer on 64 bit devices with the latest version. Is this correct? Additionally i havent tested on 32bit windows 7. I will need to set myself up a machine with that version of windows and then see if i can reproduce your error.
If we wanted to get crazy secure i could do it all kinds of different ways.. I do have plans to eventually release the source code.. This is a big request, but would multiple connections per single window even if multiple instances run, hidden, in the background be too large of a pain? SCCM's implementation takes up too much real estate when retaining aspect ratio for large resolutions is at play. Tabs would be handy, too, but may detract from keeping high resolutions more easily viewable on low resolution hosts.
Your auto-hide toolbar could be a nice location. An option to initiate new connections in that menu, close connections without switching to that view an 'x' on the side, similar to browser tabs , and even have another run in a separate window would be excellent, although manually running a second instance works just fine. Thanks guys Fixed possible crash due to event log not being available yet on the remote system. Upgraded TightVnc Server to 2.
Upgraded RealVnc Viewer to 5. Fixed some code in Active Directory Browser that could cause a crash when selecting different objects quickly. This was to help with Main UI freezing. Changed Screen refresh interval from 1 second to a half second. Now sets Remote Registry service to "Manual" if its currently disabled. Sets it back to disabled when cleaning. So for example, if the service was already set to manual but was stopped, we make sure that its still manual and stopped when we are done using this service.
Updated How it Works page with new methods above. Fixed a Ghosting issue with the tooltips that was still lingering around. Fixed issue with Change Domain "Find" unhandled exception when not selecting anything. Minkus n00b. Joined May 17, Messages Thanks for the new version! Installed here and seems to be working great apart from the XP Disable Local Input option, which you mentioned before wouldn't work.
Keep up the good work! Joined Mar 14, Messages 5. Hello, thanks for excellent program! Works really good for Windows 7 environment. But there is one inconvenience. Every time when I connect to other PC desctop wallpaper switches on something embedded on. To return back wall paper user has to log off log on. It is very inconvenient. Could you check this?? Thanks again for your great job. I have tried on several PC's. They are members of AD. Every time when I start VNC with use of your tool my user has admin rights, remote user doesn't , wallpaper changes on some default setting.
I can give one screen, but in other case wallpaper changed on default windows 7 wallpaper. Could be, but in case of this tool I don't have access to this option. Last edited: Mar 15, Do you use any other VNC programs on your admin machine or on your user's machines? RealVNC Viewer? Still experiencing the same connection issues. Can you provide a screenshot of what happens? Or more information?
I cant seem to reproduce as with the latest version that I posted 1. Edit: I was using an older version, apparently. On the latest version what happens to me on Windows 10 AU computers is I get a connection refused by host see below. I have another VNC type program that works it just is laggy, so I don't like using it - so obviously I have access.
Also, just a nagging thing, but every time I try to connect, it brings up a VNC license agreement EVERY time. Even after I agree. Last edited: Mar 8, Can you try connecting to a Windows 10 computer that you have never connected to before?
If you get this error, can you log into the computer you attempted to connect to and run the following powershell command as an administrator? It appears that in our case, most of the issues were caused by Windows 10 possibly resetting the remote registry service to disabled? However, even on enabling the service, it is set to trigger for the start. I'm not certain what "triggers" it though.
There seems to be limited information on this. I'm curious if using this program will trigger the service or not. Thanks for the information scooter I think that's the problem. I will reach out to you directly to test a version that should log an error so we can get to the bottom of why it cant create the event source on your Windows 10 boxes.
RE- Remote Registry service for whoever asked that question. This application requires that the remote registry service is Enabled and Running. It does contain logic to enable the service and to start it and when done connecting it should stop it and disable it if that's the state it was in before connecting. Hi Muad'Dib, just to say, we're still getting the error with RemoteControl 1. Happy to run a debug build with you as well if that would help get this fixed. The issue with the eventlog appears to be something with Windows 10 and the.
I have found other reports of the issue without much insight into what could be done to remediate. Interestingly, I don't have this issue in my environment. If not, what happens if you install it and reboot? Do you still get the error? Hi, Yes, on Windows 10 we've got '. NET Framework 3.
